E17 Free Throw Challenge rules

OVERVIEW

E17 is a free throw shooting challenge consisting of two main elements: honor; and support. Individuals, or teams of up to ten persons, honor the heroes of E17 by making 1,700 and 17,000 free throws, respectively, between Independence Day and December 31. Participants, whether individually or as a team of up to ten persons, can also rally financial support for the causes and loved ones of the E17 heroes.

Individuals
  • Register on-line using the E17 operation platform
  • The goal of every individual shooter participating in the challenge is to make 1,700 free throws
  • The shooter pledges to honestly record all made free throws. Participants shoot whenever they want, as long as they want, wherever they want.
  • Should the shooter wish to support the causes and loved ones of the E17 heroes, the shooter will also set a fundraising goal, against a minimum baseline of $170.00. This default goal works out to 10 cents per free throw. Donations are made online through the E17 operation platform or by check. Progress relative to the fundraising goal is reflected on the shooter’s page on a real time basis.
  • Individuals participating in the “honor” component of the challenge that make 1,700 free throws between Independence Day and midnight of Labor Day will have accomplished his or her objective. Individuals participating in both the “honor” and “support” elements of the challenge that (i) make 1,700 free throws, and (ii) raise $170.00 or more in donations between Independence Day and midnight of December 31,  will have accomplished both objectives.
Teams
  • As many as ten persons can form a team and register on-line using the E17 operation platform
  • The goal of each team participating in the challenge is to make 17,000 free throws
  • Each team member pledges to honestly record all made free throws. Participants shoot whenever they want, as long as they want, wherever they want.
  • Should the shooting team wish to support the causes and loved ones of the E17 heroes, it will also set a fundraising goal, against a minimum baseline of $1,700.00. Donations are made online through the E17 operation platform or by check. Progress relative to the fundraising goal is reflected on the team’s page on a real time basis.
  • Every member of the team is not required to shoot. Some members may assist by rebounding for or offering encouragement to others. In cases where teams are also seeking to support the causes and loved ones of the E17 heroes, non-shooting members of the team can also focus on the fundraising element of the challenge.
  • Teams participating in the “honor” component of the challenge that make 17,000 free throws between Independence Day and midnight of Labor Day will have accomplished their objective. Teams participating in both the “honor” and “support” elements of the challenge that (i) make 17,000 free throws, and (ii) raise $1,700.00 or more in donations between Independence Day and midnight of December 31, will have accomplished both objectives.
